This Air purifying plant is arguably one of the easiest plants to grow indoors. The pothos grows in a vine like fashion making it a great plant to have in a hanging display to fill up any empty space on a shelf or desktop. This particular variety has shorter, more rounded leaves than a typical pothos, and has a tanish white pattern on the edges of its leaves.

  • Botanical Name: Epipremnum Aureum
  • Common Names: Devil’s Ivy

Here are some care tips to help you maintain the health and beauty of your Pothos N’Joy:

  1. Light: Provide bright, indirect light for your Pothos N’Joy. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, brighter light will help maintain its variegation. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  2. Watering: Allow the top inch or so of soil to dry out between waterings. Pothos plants are fairly drought-tolerant and prefer slightly dry conditions over consistently wet soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it’s essential to avoid soggy soil.
  3. Soil: Plant your Pothos N’Joy in well-draining potting mix. A blend of peat moss, perlite, and/or coarse sand works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from pooling at the roots.
  4. Temperature: Pothos N’Joy thrives in typical indoor temperatures ranging from 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Avoid exposing the plant to cold drafts or temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  5. Humidity: Normal household humidity levels are usually sufficient for Pothos N’Joy. However, it appreciates slightly higher humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby, especially during dry winter months.
  6. Fertilization: Feed your Pothos N’Joy with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing in winter or if the plant is not actively growing.
  7. Pruning: Regularly prune your Pothos N’Joy to encourage bushy growth and maintain its shape. Trim leggy stems and remove any yellow or dead leaves. You can also propagate the cuttings to create new plants.
  8. Propagation: Pothos N’Joy is easily propagated from stem cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem below a node (where a leaf attaches to the stem) and place it in water or moist potting soil until roots develop.
  9. Pests: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs. If pests are present, gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth or treat the plant with insecticidal soap.
  10. Potting and Repotting: Repot your Pothos N’Joy when it outgrows its current pot or becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes and fresh potting mix.

With proper care, your Pothos N’Joy will reward you with its charming variegated foliage and easygoing nature. Enjoy watching it thrive in your home!
