This Pothos is a variegated version with more white than green. It is so easy, perfect for beginners, as pothos is one of the easiest plants to grow. This plant is so easy going. You can grow it in a hanging basket, let it climb or even grow horizontally along a tabletop or mantle. This plant will tolerate any light condition, though it’s preference is moist soil and medium to high light spots. It even forgives for the occasional missed watering! No need to fertilize very often, maybe twice per year.
- Botanical Name: Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’
- Common Name(s): Snow Queen Pothos, Marble Queen Pothos,
Here are some care tips to help you keep your Pothos Marble Queen healthy and thriving:
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light for your Pothos Marble Queen to maintain its variegation. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, brighter light will enhance the coloration of its leaves. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Allow the top inch or so of soil to dry out between waterings. Pothos Marble Queen prefers slightly moist soil but is relatively forgiving of occasional underwatering. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Adjust your watering frequency based on environmental conditions and the plant’s growth stage.
- Soil: Plant your Pothos Marble Queen in well-draining potting mix. A mix containing peat moss, perlite, and/or coarse sand works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the roots.
- Temperature: Pothos Marble Queen thrives in typical indoor temperatures ranging from 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Avoid exposing it to cold drafts or temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
- Humidity: While Pothos Marble Queen can tolerate average indoor humidity levels, it appreciates slightly higher humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby, especially during dry winter months.
- Fertilization: Feed your Pothos Marble Queen with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing in winter or if the plant is not actively growing.
- Pruning: Regularly prune your Pothos Marble Queen to promote bushy growth and maintain its shape. Trim leggy stems and remove any yellow or dead leaves. You can propagate the cuttings to create new plants.
- Propagation: Pothos Marble Queen is easily propagated from stem cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem below a node (where a leaf attaches to the stem) and place it in water or moist potting soil until roots develop.
- Pests: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs. If pests are present, gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth or treat the plant with insecticidal soap.
- Potting and Repotting: Repot your Pothos Marble Queen when it outgrows its current pot or becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes and fresh potting mix.
With proper care, your Pothos Marble Queen will reward you with its elegant variegated foliage and easygoing nature. Enjoy the beauty it brings to your indoor space!
